ZimmCast with Ev Griner

October 21st, 2008 . by admin

Moultrie Sunbelt Expo PodcastDuring last week’s Sunbelt Ag Expo The ZimmCast interviewed Ev Griner. Ev has been in broadcasting since 1948 (60 years)! He’s an icon of the farm broadcasting business in the deep southeast and is still producing daily programming for Southeast AgNet. I’ve known Ev for a lot of years but hadn’t seen him in over 10 years.

Sunbelt Expo News Roundup

October 7th, 2008 . by admin

The Albany Herald writes:

From the latest in cotton pickers — satellite-steered machines that pick, form and deposit bales as they ride across a field — to an Auburn University truck that runs on wood chips, Sunbelt has always been about increasing economic efficiency, Executive Director Chip Blalock said.

With a spotlight this year on Kentucky, known for its thoroughbred horses and row crops, especially tobacco, Sunbelt is fortunate not to have seen the economy detract from the 1,200 exhibitors slated to be at the Expo Oct. 14-16, he said.

Swampie has provided some directions:

The Sunbelt Expo’s permanent home is at Spence Field in Moultrie, GA. 4 miles southeast of U.S. Hwy 319 on Hwy 133. The physical address is:
290-G Harper Blvd.
Moultrie, GA 31788-2157
Directions into Spence field & to EXPO building:

On Hwy 133, turn left into Gate 2. Follow West Yount Street and you will come to a oneway traffic circle. Take the traffic circle around until you reach North Vandenberg Drive - turn right onto North Vandenberg Drive. You will reach the Water Tower - veer to the right. The Expo Headquarters Building (tan building with a green metal roof)is on the right. The front of the office faces the runway - visitors please park in front of the building.

WZTV in Nahsville is covering the story:

The 31st annual Sunbelt Agricultural Exposition begins Oct. 14 with demonstrations of the latest farm equipment, goat and horse shows and seminars.

The three-day expo will attract 1,200 exhibitors and an estimated 100,000 visitors to a 700-acre complex at Moultrie in south Georgia.

The southeastagnet.com has a nice podcast about the ag expo:

We are just 3 weeks away from the anual Sunbelt Agricultural Exposition in Moultrie, Georgia and their Executive Director, Chip Blaclock, says the show will of course have a variety of things to see including many that livestock producers would be interested in.

Dr. Phil’s Bubbas and Bubbettes

October 5th, 2008 . by admin

“Dr. Phil” has posted a great blogger post that has it’s roots in his growing up around Moultrie:

Keep in mind I grew up in Georgia. When I mention Georgia, most people who have never been there think of Atlanta, a great southern metropolitan city.

Most have not heard of Moultrie, a small farming town in the southwestern region of Georgia. I grew up on a 75-acre farm that was then, and still is, a half mile off the main dirt road.
